Lifestrike is dead. Billy-ons will weep. (Billy is the best frontliner rn)
[PRESS QUEUE BUILD AT THE TOP, CHANGE ORDER AS YOU NEED]
Annotated and includes additional categories for pivoting your build.
Billy's lane is a bit weaker now, but our wave clear is stronger than most characters as you can spam light melees on troopers while you are reloading, so you can always have pressure. [ - ] Enemies are forced to respect you as walking up to the bridge and beyond gives you enough space to punish them hard. With Blasted you win every melee trade, and with Rising Ram and Bashdown you keep them out of position. [ - ] Look for opportunities to punish overextension whenever possible. Ideally wave prio is more important but if the enemy is disrespecting your space or hard pressuring your lane partner on your side you need to be there immediately. [ - ] Smart enemies will not give you space to kill them with, so in this scenario, shove wave hard and leave to go box and get even stronger. The enemy will either make an aggressive play for you to punish or you will get strong enough from wave shoving and box farming to dive them under their tower. [ - ] When your ultimate comes up, try to force value on it as soon as possible. The moment they give you space instantly dive with ult. [ - ] Golden rule: communicate with your lane partner when you're diving !!!

I
Melee Lifesteal
Activates on Bashdown. Heavy melee minion waves to keep the cooldown short. Feel free to sell this first.

I
Monster Rounds
Helps you kill all NPCs faster to gain wave prio and take jungle faster. Take less chip damage from all NPCs. Super good item.

I
Close Quarters
Melee resist and bonus damage against close range targets. Upgrades into Point Blank which is a very strong item for Billy.

I
Extra Health
Good for surviving big bursts more. Kind of emulates the health difference we had with early Lifestrike. Upgrades into Colossus in late game.

II
Melee Charge
Makes heavy melees good. When active this doubles your Blasted HP gain, so ALWAYS pop Blasted first now.

II
Battle Vest
Nice bullet resist and damage output increase.

III
Point Blank
Huge damage increase up close, which is where all your fights will be. Gives a slow effect as well to help you stay on top of your target.

II
Enduring Speed
Must have item to stay in your enemies' face, better than Sprint Boots as it improves your move speed instead of sprint speed.

I
Active
Healing Rite
Actually OP item. Use this inbetween waves and hit boxes, take sinners, or take camps. Can be bought later if you're omega pooping on the enemy lane (would still buy anyway though).

I
Extra Regen
Very solid green item, always worth taking if you're taking more damage than you'd like.

I
Rebuttal
For the naughty laners who like to melee you a lot. Don't just spam it like a bot, that will get you killed.

II
Reactive Barrier
Super clutch against cc from Haze, Paige, Mo & Krill, etc. Activates when hyperlined or parried as well.

II
Spirit Shielding
Nerfed, but still good. Now not the answer to everything but still worth considering.
After lane I would generally recommend trying to play around your ult's cooldown. Farm by catching trooper waves and stealing enemy jungling. Using Blasted in jungle will allow you to leave camps with more HP than you entered with. [ - ] Make sure to pause jungling to prioritize catching the nearest wave EVERY time, the jungle will still be there and is worth less than troopers. [ - ] When ult is off cooldown, keep farming but look at your map and try to scope out where a fight is going to happen and start rotating. If one is already happening and you can make it, start rotating. Billy is an insane teamfighter when his ult is ready. You can also rotate for fights when you have no ult if you can gank quickly. Lifestrike is super nerfed and not viable until late, try to fight with Blasted up only!!!

II
Bullet Resist Shredder
Resist, shred, and gets you 4.8k spirit. Synergizes well with Torment Pulse.

III
Superior Duration
This character NEEDS Blasted active to be OP right now. Superior makes our duration longer and scales the amount of time melees extend it. OP on upgraded Rising Ram too.v

III
Spirit Resilience
Spirit damage feels pretty prevalent as a frontliner right now, so I personally take Spirit Resilience at some point in the game. Very strong effect that pairs well with more spirit resist or Frenzy.

I
Extended Magazine
More ammo to keep pressure with m1. Blasted ammo refill is scaled by max ammo, so this makes our light melee reload more effective.

III
Active
Heroic Aura
Bullet resist for everyone around you, move speed, fire rate, and winions all in one. Even better if you have a teammate with summons (Graves or McGinnis).

III
Escalating Resilience
Great stat increases + bullet resist that scales pretty high and lasts a long time. Has no fall-off range so you can shoot targets from afar to get your resist stacks early.

III
Berserker
If you already have stacked bullet resist this can help you stack more and helps you build more weapon damage fast. Worth considering selling Cultist Sacrifice for this.

III
Active
Warp Stone
Mobility to get in and/or out paired with a huge resist buff.

III
Bullet Resilience
More useful now than pre-November patch. Fat resist bonus when low.

IV
Plated Armor
Very good item against really strong gun characters when you already have some bullet resist.

III
Active
Blood Tribute
Gives spirit resist, fire rate, and FAT debuff resist. Definitely pick into hard CC.

IV
Frenzy
Very good item to resist incoming spirit damage and retaliate with bonus stats. In primarily spirit comps, pair with Spirit Resilience for 75% resist.

II
Active
Cold Front
Gives spirit resist and is lowkey a little OP. Strong early damage that scales and slows for a long duration. Effectively a 5th ability. Do not sleep on this item.

III
Greater Expansion
Synergizes with all your Bashdown and Chain Gang very well and also gives you spirit resist on top.

III
Spirit Snatch
Still an insane item, arguably even better on Billy now once Bashdown reaches Lv3. Helps you reach bigger burst with Bashdown.

II
Enchanter's Emblem
Very good spirit power (+ resist) increase item. Spirit power not only increases your damage but also your Blasted bonus HP scaling.

III
Active
Dispel Magic
Can be used to clear debuffs and curses like Warden's Binding Word or Vindicta's Stake. New spirit resist makes it even better into characters like Infernus.

IV
Spellbreaker
Not only helps you eat large spirit damage chunks but gives base spirit and debuff resist too.

II
Debuff Reducer
Big into cc heavy teams, works well with Reactive Barrier and upgrades into Spellbreaker or Unstoppable.

III
Counterspell
Super good item, highly recommend against characters who rely on their abilities. Can also parry walker stomp to proc a free heal and stat bonus.

IV
Active
Divine Barrier
If you're too grandpa to Counterspell Affliction in time (me) this item will be a very expensive band-aid to your poor reaction time.

II
Active
Slowing Hex
Better item now. Silences movement abilities, so it's very good for shutting down characters who rely on them like Lash, Mina, or Infernus.

II
Suppressor
Very helpful when played into characters that rely on their m1.

III
Active
Knockdown
Like Slowing Hex, kind of OP, lets you get picks easier and shuts down people in the sky.

III
Active
Silence Wave
Fallen from grace since last patch but still a silence which proves useful when ambushing enemies.

IV
Active
Cursed Relic
Another item to shutdown carries with, boasting even more debuffs and clearing all buffs.
As the game progresses past the 20 minute mark, respawn timers will get much longer and deaths will result in opportunities for teams to make plays for objectives like walkers or mid-boss. [ - ] In the late game communicate with your team to keep waves shoved safely and avoid anyone being caught alone. [ - ] Prioritize safely collecting more souls while also looking for opportunities to get picks on the enemy team. Depending on the target, you may be able to mid-boss off one pick (high value pit fighters such as Dynamo or Abrams), but in most cases two picks is the safest mid-boss scenario. [ - ] Adjust your build to what is most necessary, sometimes it's worth grabbing one or two different items per game. Use your head and be smart in your items. [ - ] Ultimately, winning the game requires you to turn on your mic and work together.

III
Lifestrike
Definitely way weaker, especially early on. Works well with Colossus. Much later provides nice relevant bursts.

IV
Active
Colossus
Fat HP increase + insane resists and more weapon damage. Very good tank item. Now gives bonus melee damage when active, which is nice.

IV
Crushing Fists
Only makes sense to invest in more utility since we have Melee Charge. The stun can be really useful for interrupting channels.

II
Healbane
Cheap antiheal and heals on kill. Great for ganking playstyle.

IV
Inhibitor
Like Silencer, this item works with Bashdown, so you can affect multiple people at once. Gives a HUGE damage bonus and really good bonus health too. Destroy Abrams.

III
Toxic Bullets
Strong antiheal and percent health bleed. Gives no stat bonuses which kind of sucks but this item is still good.

III
Active
Decay
50% heal reduction is pretty large and also bleeds 30% of someone's health for its duration. Gives bonus spirit power and health which are very nice.

III
Torment Pulse
A lot of DPS by being near people, usually bought in mid-game but I personally don't prioritize spirit damage as much on this character.

IV
Active
Vortex Web
Insane CC item. Pairs really well with Bashdown and Chain Gang. With Vortex Web you dictate the teamfight.

IV
Boundless Spirit
If you're really agead or don't have any particular item you need to buy scaling your Blasted even further is pretty big.

IV
Imbue [E]
Active
Echo Shard
Mostly testing right now but being Blasted is more important than ever, so never not having Blasted is kind of big.

IV
Juggernaut
Great tank item to compliment bullet resists when going against multiple gun builds.

IV
Active
Vampiric Burst
Less healing than Leech passively but when active component is used it heals you by over 1000. With Frenzy pop Vampiric Burst below 50% HP to maximize fire rate and healing.

IV
Crippling Headshot
Super easy to activate shred for both damage types + antiheal. Super necessary into high resistance frontliners like Yamato, Abrams, Victor, etc.

IV
Silencer
Lowers enemy spirit damage output, and silences them. It builds up stacks on your Bashdown so you can hit multiple people with it at once. Very good.

II
Titanic Magazine
Even more ammo and gun damage. Extra ammo is important because it scales our melee ammo replenish and lets us mix up our melee mindgames.

III
Weighted Shots
Builds from Slowing Bullets and gives a large weapon damage increase. Makes it extremely hard to get away from you. Best into characters dashing a lot.

III
Imbue [E]
Ballistic Enchantment
This item is INSANE damage. Cultist Sacrifice is less necessary with how squishy jungle is now, and this grants you the range and damage aspect but better early on.

IV
Active
Capacitor
Higher DPS and hard movement lock on whoever you hit. Very easy to hit targets with the active component after Rising Ram or Bashdown. Useful for slippery targets.

II
Stalker
Not terrible but the bleed doesn't seem to have much of a purpose in mid-game still after its rework.

II
Weakening Headshot
Cheap and easy bullet resist shred.

III
Active
Alchemical Fire
Strong for ult usage and mid-boss fights. Bashdown and Rising Ram soft cc can be used to force people to stay in the fire.

III
Hunter's Aura
Big bullet resist shred on alone targets, and bullet resist shred around people in general.
