I give my best explanation as to how to start thinking with viper as well as the items you want to look at when shopping
Burst viper: you try to abuse the recoil system in place for viper as when you fire, you slowly lose accuracy over time, so how about you just choose your battles and do big damage that way?
Spam viper: you understand there is a recoil system in place and instead opt to be so close it doesnt matter for maximum dps, you may also want to solo push objectives better
Both are really good playstyles but its best recommended to look at what might be better yourself, ive included annos in EVERY ITEM for help understanding
good luck and have fun
The main sauce of your build, optional annos on everything for reading
provided you are using slides correctly, you can achieve an almost ZERO downtime with your reloads if you make a mag last
standard sustain for most of the time
better if you play more passive
alternative to H.A if you are more of a fighter but lacks consistency
fire rate, movement slow resist, fire rate, and SLIDE DISTANCE? no brainer always take possibly even rush
important for spam viper, bursting is a different story, but still this can be nice to have
cost effective and works pretty ok as a filler between your slides as a way to reset recoil (VERY IMPORTANT TO RESET RECOIL AT TIMES)
if you managed to get leech, you might as well fully invest in that through this (its also just nice)
later game alternative for a burst-y playstyle, or raw healthiness
some items to consider
ammo buffs on viper should be EXTREMELY long winded and useful in the right hands, as you should be using at most 2 bullets or so before your back to sliding [sell for slots]
more important than you think, being able to have faster regen on stamina is very nice to have
the extra health is a nice cushion for breathing room, and provides weapon damage (can also buy regen alternatively)
indirectly improves your sliding, regen is nice as well
really cheap slide distance upgrade and an alternative to mag but consider skipping
are you managing to take almost ALL the attention every time you show up? are you dying pretty fast? make them think twice
[ANTI STUN] - be careful with this cd, its hard to utilize effectively in my experience so make it count
pressure your enemy into using their limited supply of stamina, makes their lives harder and can help you escape 1v1s
I do not recommend this primarily, and in fact, id sell this once you run out of slots
point blank for spam, headhunter for burst
slow resist, any questions?
more suitable for spam viper as the damage up close means you can attempt to go circles around someone
percentage heal on headshot means your first part of your bullet flurry will recover you pretty damn fast. but only for burst viper
good for burst viper or if you skill issue your slides and spam standing, otherwise consider skipping this one
absolute waste of money for viper, but if you were looking for it, here it is just learn your sliding though if possible
you should either use your 1 more or pair with pulse for good value
leech is an excellent first late game purchase, that or VW+CB
bullet lifesteal's older brother, and a high recommendation if the game lasts too long
Good for split solo pushing lanes or jungling, very skippable however
triggers PLENTY of effects consistently during fights to the point it justifies itself entirely on its own (view mystic slow or BRS)
works with torment pulse! fire rate slow is really good to prevent other bullet lifesteal abusers from getting very far
100 percent bullet lifesteal is insane
dash distance is nuts with this item, however you might slide far enough ALREADY so consider it
become the ultimate annoyance: very powerful survival tool to ensure you can more oftentimes with a 1v1
speed is nice + veil walker is just outright OVERTUNED with how much recovery you get from it in total via sheilds
pair with veil walker to help identify as a burst viper, spammies benefit too!
Low priority, but can prove useful
your ultimate is pretty useless oftentimes, so why not make it a trigger for a ton of hp?
on 4, lets you try it out more offensively as that extra radius can get you to stun someone for a slam down
viper has the most free spirit slots in the game, and being a good split pusher, you can try and take advantage of an empty lane pretty well
combine with burst fire to help identify as a spam viper
you typically dont want to buy armors, but if you notice an abundance of one damage type, its a good idea to get the corrisponding armor
see bullet armor
